New Prices!

Two new releases fresh from the printers: Do Re Mi Fa So Vol. 1 (€22.90) are my first pieces for absolute recorder beginners! The 20 melodies make do with the notes g, a, b, c and d! Stylistically I move between Chopin and Debussy, African and Polish, Spanish and medieval, pop, swing and Viennese waltz! Jangu Wano, ten further pieces for soprano or tenor recorder and piano, (24.90) are the successor to Karungi, the recorder part is suitable for advanced beginners, the piano accompaniments are somewhat more demanding. You can also order mp3s of the piano playbacks for both pieces.
Due to the increasing demand for pdf, I am now offering a new price structure! As before, you can buy my printed editions for 19.90 (duo, trio, quartet), 24.90 (quintet, sextet) or 39.90 (orchestra). You can also buy either the pdf only (17.90 / 22.90 / 37.90) or the printed editions plus the pdf (22.90 / 27.90 / 42.90). I will gradually add this to all individual order forms, but you can also let me know when you order! New for recorder orchestra: Intsumantsumane and The Secret of Secrets, 5 Circle Songs for recorder orchestra!

Music Video Competition 2020!

I want to say my biggest thanks to all groups and individuals taking part in my first music video competition 2020. We received 39 contributions from all over the world, including musical, visual and performing artists from Hongkong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Argentinia, Chile, Brazil, Italy, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. So many different approaches, so much love and effort and fun and mastery. It will be very hard to chose the three winners , and I am glad I have Claire Walka and Ebba-Maria Künning-Zeijl at my side in the Jury. We will announce the winners on November 1 and then step by step publish the best videos. Again, I would like to say thank you to everyone involved. There will definitely be a second competition next year!

Sören in the FAZ

I am very pleased that the long-standing German ambassador to Cameroon, Volker Seitz, has now published a detailed review of "Oh, how beautiful is Africa!": https://www.achgut.com/artikel/oh_wie_schoen_ist_afrika. Volker Seitz himself published his 40 years of experience in Africa in the very good book "Afrika wird armregiert" (dtv). His review is therefore a special honor for me! Before this I was able to report on the absurdities of the so-called "sensitivity reading" in the FAZ from 28.1. and in the Swiss WELTWOCHE from 17.2. (https://weltwoche.ch/story/sie-reproduzieren-kolonial-rassistische-macht...). The Hamburger Abendblatt published a large portrait (https://www.abendblatt.de/kultur-live/article236657777/couchsurfing-trip...) and WELT has printed the first chapter (https://www.welt.de/reise/staedtereisen/plus241191741/Couchsurfing-in-Af... Eine-unvergessliche-Nacht-in-Kenia.html). Although Randomhouse really didn't do anything for the book, it has now become my book with the greatest public resonance - which makes me happy, because I have put so much work, time, love and research into my twelfth book! I look forward to all feedback to mail@soerensieg.de. You can also order the book OH WIE SCHÖN IST AFRIKA right here on the site. My CD AMAZING AFRICA is now available on all streaming platforms:

Double Saturday

On February 23 there will be two Premieres on one day: On the Recorder Day Itzehoe the commissioned work UXOLO for recorder orchestra will be played for the very first time. And nearly at the same time Liesbeth Schlumberger and Claudia Leibovitz will play the Premiere of my African Suite No. 27 TELL THEM I'VE HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE for organ and recorder in the Église Protestante Unie de Étoile in Paris, just a few steps from the Arc de Triomphe. I am very happy, but I can only attend the Premiere in Paris! Besides I am proud to announce that the new CD of iFlautisti DOUCE DAMES JOLIE contains my African Suite No.15 WAKATI NJEMA in a wonderful recording. The marvelous CD is available in every CD-shop, on Spotify and soon also on this homepage!
