Just finished!

I just finished the first version of my new book "The thin years are over - 44 ways out of the midlife crisis"! I have to deliver it to the publishing house on the 31th of July, so I will spent the July with corrections… it will be published in autumn!

Mavumo ya uana on CD

I wish to thank the QuarterTones Flutes Ensemble from Canada for the wonderful recording of Mavumo ya uana on their just released Album COMBINE.
They play it on flutes instead of recorders and much slower then I suggested - and it sounds wonderful!

Premiere in Bergstedt!

Tomorrow at 5pm in Hamburg-Bergstedt the Flutes en bloc will play my 12 Variations on an old dutch folk tune for the very first time. I am very excited and I am looking forward to it!

Mavumo ya uana on a CD-Recording from Canada!

It is great when the own works make it around the world. On 10th of June the Quarter Tones Flutes Ensemble will present their first CD COMBINE in the Crave Kitchen + Wine Bar in Regina, Kanada. Und they also will be playing Mavumo ya uana, which I wrote years ago for the Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartett - and which is now for the first time published on CD. The album shall arrive here in a few days - I am really looking forward to it! If someone happens to be around in Canada...

All new!

Welcome to my new website! Everything is brand new - especially I offer everything for the very first time in English, hoping that it may help to spread my african music around the globe! Besides the translation I offer a lot more of audio examples so you can listen what I wrote. By the way: I just wrote a completely new piece for the Flutes en Bloc in Hamburg, 12 Variations on an old dutch folk tune, which will have his very first performance on the 28th of June in Hamburg Bergstedt!
I wish to thank Sebastian Rühmann, who designed the site and established a fabulous content management system!

20 Years of LaLeLu!

It is incredible: On Friday in September and on Sunday in Hamburg I will be on stage again with Sonja, Sanna, Tobi, Frank and Jan to celebrate 20 years of LaLeLu! The 20th anniversary of the supergroup of a cappella comedy!!! I am very, very proud to be there, and the wonderful Laeiszhalle is nearly completely sold out…

Shortlist!

I may happily announce that "Ich hab dich rein optisch nicht verstanden!" made it to the Shortlist of the german books 2014 with the most funny, original and extraordinary book title! After entering the bestselling list of the SPIEGEL for some weeks… At the moment I am writing my next Ullstein-Buch: The Thin years are over. 44 Ways tout of the midlife Crisis. After spending 15 years in my personal midlife crisis it is definitely time for this book!

More new music!

I am happy to announce that I just finished three new pieces: Umlanjana are 20 African Duets for Recorder in increasing levels, that can also be used in teaching recorder. Ajo Oloyin is a three-piece-suite for eight recorders, that I composed for the workshop African Recorder Music I held in Aarau in September 2014. And the 16 Variations on an irish Jig for Recorder Quintet was commissioned and performed by the Ensemble Pipelife in January 2014 in Karlsruhe. The CD Recording shall follow in the autumn of this year.
